ALM, TRSA Launch Linen360 for Healthcare Linen

Educational initiative about safe linen handling, infection prevention, reducing loss

RICHMOND, Ky., and ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Association for Linen Management (ALM) and TRSA have launched Linen360, an educational initiative created to improve how healthcare facilities train staff on the proper use of healthcare textiles.

The organizations state that their collaboration reflects a shared commitment to patient safety, operational efficiency and sustainability through better linen-management practices.

“Linen is one of the few reusable medical supplies in healthcare, and what happens to it inside the facility — how it’s handled, stored and returned — matters as much as how it’s laundered,” says Liz Remillong, chairman of ALM. “Linen360 gives everyone who touches linen a clear, shared understanding of their role in keeping it safe and in the flow.”

“Frontline teams are essential to protecting the integrity of healthcare textiles,” says Nancy Tree, TRSA Healthcare Committee chair. “By making this training free and easy to share, we’re helping operators and their healthcare customers build safer, more efficient linen practices together.”

At the center of the program is the Linen360 Healthcare Orientation Series, an engaging, animated training resource built for the wide range of personnel who interact with linen every day: nurses, certified nursing assistants (CNAs), environmental services (EVS) staff, technicians and others.

Through practical, real-world scenarios, the series reinforces the essential role healthcare textiles play in patient care and infection prevention.

The three-video series walks learners through the complete linen-flow cycle, with clear guidance on handling both clean and soiled linen. It highlights critical infection-prevention procedures for linen handling and storage, helping staff understand their role in maintaining a safe clinical environment.

The series also addresses common operational challenges such as linen loss and misuse, offering actionable strategies that can help facilities reduce unnecessary costs.

By combining the expertise of ALM and TRSA, Linen360 promotes standardized best practices across the healthcare industry. The initiative supports compliance efforts while helping facilities optimize resources and reinforce the value of healthcare linen as a reusable, patient-centered asset.
