NEW BERLIN, Wis. — ITU AbsorbTech, an industrial laundry headquartered here, has received state and federal recognition for its veteran workforce development efforts.
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) designated the company a 2025 Vets Ready Employer (Gold Award, large-business category), plus ITU received a 2025 Gold HIRE Vets Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The Vets Ready Employer Initiative highlights Wisconsin employers with strong veteran workforce practices. Twenty-five employers statewide received the designation this year.
The HIRE Vets Medallion Award, the only federal recognition of its kind, honors employers that meet rigorous standards for recruiting, employing and retaining veterans. The award is administered by the Labor Department’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) and was established by the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans (HIRE Vets) Act of 2017.
“Veterans bring experience, discipline, and dedication that align with who we are at ITU AbsorbTech and how we operate,” says company President Craig Bald. “These awards aren’t about us. They recognize the real impact veterans make and our responsibility to support meaningful careers, both for the veterans on our team today and those transitioning into civilian work.”
DWD presents the Vets Ready Employer awards in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, Disabled American Veterans Department of Wisconsin, Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR), the Wisconsin American Legion, and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
ITU AbsorbTech employs 21 active service members and veterans across its operations who contribute to leadership development, safety performance, teamwork, and operational excellence.
