Pittsburgh Hospital Contracts with Sodexho to Keep Laundry Service Local

PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has contracted with Sodexho to continue providing laundry services at the former Hospital Central Services Cooperative (HCSC) facility on Jumonville Street in Pittsburgh and maintain the plant's work force of 175, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Centerstone Development, Buffalo, N.Y., bought the HCSC plant for $1.7 million and Sodexho, Gaithersburg, Md., is leasing it.
UPMC provides about 75% of the plant's 19-million-pound annual workload, Rob DiMichiei, UPMC's chief financial officer, told the newspaper.
