RALEIGH, N.C. — Maple Springs Laundry Inc., a commercial laundry serving the healthcare industry, is expanding, creating 68 jobs and investing $5.9 million over the next three years at a new facility in Long View, N.C., according to Gov. Bev Perdue. The expansion was made possible in part by a $136,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
“North Carolina offers a top-notch business climate for home-grown companies that are working hard to achieve success in a competitive market,” Gov. Perdue said in a statement. “Our skilled workforce and exceptional quality of life continue to attract and encourage commercial growth and investment.”
Maple Springs Laundry is headquartered in Hickory, N.C., in a facility that employs nearly 200 people. The company provides laundry services for patient linens and pillows, operating room scrub wear, and other hospital and doctor’s office linens.
“Maple Springs Laundry has called North Carolina home for 38 years, along with some of the most highly acclaimed healthcare systems in the country,” according to Chris Daughtry, president of Maple Springs Laundry. “And as an independent, family-owned business, we look forward to expanding our range of services offered to the healthcare industry of western North Carolina.”
The One NC Fund provides financial assistance to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job-creation and investment-performance standards to qualify for grant funds.
