ST. PAUL, Minn. — Ecolab has named Christopher Smith as the new vice president and general manager, textile care division in North America and Latin America, the company reports.

Ecolab offers water, hygiene and energy technologies and services that protect people and vital resources, including in commercial laundries.

The company says Smith joined in 2003 as part of Nalco, an Ecolab company, and served in various functions of increasing responsibility in marketing, sales leadership and corporate strategy in paper services and heavy industries.

The company says he focused primarily on commercialization of new technology, building and leading high-performing teams, and driving best practices in sales and marketing throughout the enterprise.

In 2014, he joined the healthcare division as VP of sales for North America, where he led corporate and national accounts and field sales and service teams.

In addition to consistently delivering results in terms of safety, people development, customer experience and business performance, Ecolab says Smith has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions, including marketer of the year, multiple global innovation awards, two Chairman Achievement awards and the General Manager’s Leadership award in 2012.

Prior to joining Ecolab, he held various sales and sales leadership roles in the industrial automation and control industry.
