Sharp HealthCare Outsources Linen Service to Emerald Textiles

SAN DIEGO — Sharp HealthCare has selected Emerald Textiles, a Southern California commercial laundry service, as exclusive provider of linens and linen services for all Sharp facilities, Emerald Textiles reports via press release.
Sharp HealthCare is a not-for-profit integrated regional healthcare delivery system based in San Diego. Emerald Textiles serves Sharp’s four acute-care hospitals and three specialty hospitals, as well as 19 Sharp Rees-Stealy medical centers.
Sharp estimates that it will save $1 million in the first year of partnership with Emerald Textiles, which operates its San Diego laundry in a 111,000-square-foot industrial building.
In recognition for its advanced energy- and water-saving management systems, Emerald Textiles recently received the SDG&E Savings by Design Award, created as a partnership between the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and San Diego Gas & Electric.
“We’d like to congratulate Emerald Textiles on their Savings by Design Award, as well as their water-saving equipment and processes that are saving 40 million gallons of water a year for the county of San Diego,” says John Cihomsky, vice president of public relations for Sharp HealthCare. “We are pleased to do business with a partner who is focused on sustainability and the environment.”
