NAILM Preps for First of Six Audio Conferences Slated for 2007

RICHMOND, Ky. — The National Association of Institutional Linen Management (NAILM) will open its second year of educational audio conferences in two weeks with a session on disaster planning.
Participants will explore the results of a NAILM focus group’s guide to assessing a laundry’s disaster plan, including preparation, communication and service restoration.
Registration for the Jan. 18 session is limited. A speaker telephone is required, and there’s no limit to the number of individuals who can participate from each call-in location. Conference materials can be retrieved from NAILM’s website upon being registered.
The remaining schedule (all sessions will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern) includes:
• How Green is Your Laundry? on March 8, with a focus on environmentally safe, business-wise products, services and practices for hotels and healthcare facilities.

• Building Bridges: Laundry and Infection Control on May 24, studying textile processing and distribution issues that concern the infection control practitioner and how the laundry can provide optimal service.
• Laundry Processing Guidelines for Sterile Textiles on July 19, analyzing the new barrier levels and whether a laundry’s procedures are up to standard.
• Laundry and Fire Safety on Sept. 20, equipping laundry managers and safety personnel with a review of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) fire safety requirements as they relate to laundry operations.
• The World of High-End Textiles on Nov. 15, instructing participants how they can process and preserve the premier bedding, tablecloths and terry found in today’s luxury hotels and spas without sacrificing the costs.
Cost is $30 per session for a NAILM member, $50 per session for a nonmember. Call Linda Freeman, NAILM's director of academic affairs, at 800-669-0863 for more information, or visit the NAILM website at www.nlmnet.org to learn how to register.
