Mountville Mills Buys Kleen-Tex’s North American Mat Division

LAGRANGE, Ga. — Mountville Mills has closed on its acquisition of Kleen-Tex Industries’ North American Mat Division, in a deal the two companies announced jointly in late February. Terms of the acquisition were not made public.
“Kleen-Tex is one of the most respected companies in our industry,” says David Hart, president of Mountville Mills. “Mountville is proud to be purchasing their U.S. and Canadian mat divisions. While there are many benefits from this acquisition, the most significant benefit is that our customers will profit tremendously from the combined marketing support, the expanded product line and the manufacturing efficiencies.”
Mountville will continue operations at each of the three LaGrange facilities and the Canadian distribution center formerly owned by Kleen-Tex.
Bruce Howard, president of Kleen-Tex, says his company will now focus on its fast-growing international business.
“With seven international manufacturing plants, we believe that our greatest potential is in developing mat markets,” Howard says. “We will work jointly with Mountville to support our customers during this transition.”
Founded in 1963, family-owned Mountville Mills says it’s the largest producer of rubber-backed floor mats in North America. The acquisition increases Mountville’s domestic manufacturing operations in Georgia to five (four in LaGrange, one in Dalton). Additionally, Mountville owns a distribution center in Toronto, Canada, and manufacturing plants and sales offices in Ronse, Belgium, and Guangzhou, China.
Kleen-Tex, founded in 1967, is a third-generation family business that says it’s the leading international producer of commercial floor mats. With seven vertically integrated production plants located in Japan, Thailand, Brazil, United Kingdom, Austria, South Africa and Poland, Kleen-Tex is headquartered in LaGrange.
