JOHNSTON, S.C. — Mount Vernon Mills Inc. has entered into a contract to purchase the assets of the Burlington, N.C., facility of Burlington Chemical Co. LLC. The new location will become a part of Mount Vernon Chemicals LLC, which has operations in North Carolina, Alabama, and South Carolina.
The new Burlington location produces many of the same chemicals that Mount Vernon Mills produces, as well as some that are purchased from outside suppliers. The facility provides Mount Vernon Mills with more capacity, versatility and flexibility in all chemical markets, the company says.
Mount Vernon Mills is a diversified and integrated manufacturer of textile, chemical and related products for the apparel, industrial, institutional, and commercial markets. Headquartered in Mauldin, S.C., the company has about 2,600 employees and operates 14 production facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas. It also has shipping terminals in Alabama and South Carolina.
