ASHTABULA, Ohio — Meese Orbitron Dunne Co. (MOD) has invested in multiple tools for key bulk laundry carts and trucks and spread them across the country at its West Coast, Midwest and East Coast facilities, allowing the company to manufacture its laundry carts as close to customers’ facilities as possible.
The duplicate and triplicate tooling helps MOD make sure that its bulk linen carts and trucks are produced quickly and delivered at the lowest possible freight cost, the company says. Savings on bulk shelf truck delivery to a Midwest commercial laundry is more than 50% thanks to the manufacturing of the trucks in MOD’s Madison, Ind., facility rather than in New Jersey or California, according to a review of freight rates conducted by the company.
“We’ve controlled our manufacturing costs and kept our pricing stable, but in some cases, freight has increased on a per-unit basis by 30-50%,” says Bob Dunne, president of MOD. “We’re committed to maintaining the affordability of our laundry-handling products, and investing in these multiple tools represents a critical part of that goal.”
The MOD multiple-tooling program covers the 101P clean linen delivery/soiled return truck, 39 Series nesting utility trucks and 72S bulk handling truck, as well as several other carts, trucks and containers.
