Century Linen & Uniform Receives Laundry-Specific Accreditation

Inspection assures customers that high quality is achieved, safety standards are met, company says

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. — Century Linen & Uniform Inc. has received accreditation from the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC), the company reports.

Century is the former Robison & Smith, after completing a rebranding for marketing purposes last year.

HLAC is a nonprofit organization that inspects and accredits laundries processing healthcare textiles. The accreditation is well known to infection control professionals, according to Century.

“Becoming accredited made us a better company in more ways than we thought possible,” says Richard Smith, third-generation president and CEO of Century. “Our work to become accredited included several renovations to our plant and service center, equipment upgrades and enhanced training for our entire team. It gives our customers peace of mind to know that their supplier is meeting the highest standards in processing healthcare textiles.

“The customers that we serve—such as hospitals, nursing homes, surgery centers and clinics—are used to dealing with agencies, vendors and people who have accreditation. It’s the right thing to do if you are in the business of processing and providing hygienic healthcare textiles.”

The primary benefit of accreditation, the company says, is that an independent third party has inspected the provider’s facilities and found that it meets or exceeds the highest standards for processing healthcare textiles.
