SHAWNEE MISSION, Kan. — The International Association for Healthcare Textile Management (IAHTM) hosted its 41st Annual Meeting earlier this year and announced its officers and board of trustees for 2011.
John Sealey, London Hospital Linen Services, London, Ontario, Canada, will serve as president. Other officers will be Vice President Ed McCauley, United Hospital Services, Indianapolis; Treasurer Rocco Romeo, Ottawa Regional Hospital Linen Service, Ottawa, Ontario; Education Director Deborah Lark, Portland (Ore.) Hospital Service Corp.; and Past President Chas. P. Olin, Virginia Hospital Laundry, Richmond, Va.
IAHTM is a nonprofit organization formed to promote the education of independent healthcare textile managers. It claims to be the largest central-laundry association in North America, with members processing an estimated 700 million pounds of textiles annually.
U.S. trustees for 2011 will be Bill Carey, Space Coast Hospital Services, Rockledge, Fla.; Mark Smoyer, Shared Hospital Services, Portsmouth, Va.; and Myles Noel, Comtex, Columbus, Ohio. Canadian trustees will be Stephen Marois, Alberta Health Services, Red Deer, Alberta; Renault Marier, Buanderie Centrale de Montreal, Montreal, Quebec; and Paul Siegel, Kingston Regional Hospital Laundry, Kingston, Ontario.
The association also hired Nancy Jenkins, principal of Jenkins Integrated Marketing, as its executive director. She is also executive director of the American Reusable Textile Association (ARTA).
“We look forward to increasing the healthcare industry’s awareness of what IAHTM has to offer and the value IAHTM provides its members,” says Sealey. “Hiring an executive director will allow us to better serve our members and help ensure healthcare executives understand the value of working with IAHTM members.”
IAHTM will host an Education Conference sometime next spring in Montreal and its 2011 Annual Meeting on Sept. 17-22 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.
