ASHES Offers Online Environmental Services Educational Programs

CHICAGO — The American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) has introduced two online educational programs: a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) study group and a supervisor course for developing the critical skills of department supervisors or new managers.
The CHESP study group is a six-week program that allows CHESP candidates or potential candidates to collaborate, interact, review material and help each other prepare for the exam.
The supervisory course is a 10-week program that covers environmental sanitation; microbiology; management and distribution of work; customer service; and quality assurance; and provides program participants the opportunity to collaborate, interact and complete a targeted final project, ASHES says.
ASHES members with expertise in the environmental services profession facilitate both educational programs, the association says. The programs are designed as self-paced courses, so individuals are responsible for logging into the course and completing the required reading and assignments. The programs start with an initial call, and online chats are held to discuss questions and progress. All reading materials are included in the price of the courses, and CHESP-certified individuals receive Continuing Professional Education credits.
The CHESP study group is available for ASHES members at $99, while nonmembers pay $135. The supervisor course is available for members at $189, while nonmembers pay $239.
