ARTA Introduces New Director, Set to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

FAIRWAY, Kan. — The board of directors for the American Reusable Textile Association (ARTA) has appointed Nancy Jenkins its new executive director.
She succeeds Bill Carroll, who began serving in 2000 and announced his retirement at the end of 2006.
Jenkins has been editor of the organization’s Reusable Textiles newsletter since January 2004 and played a key role in planning and executing ARTA’s first seminar on reusable surgical textiles in spring 2006.
As executive director, Jenkins will respond to member inquiries and coordinate operations and marketing outreach while working closely with the president and board. She’ll continue to produce ARTA’s newsletter and oversee its website.
Jenkins joined the industry in 1984 as managing editor for the Textile Rental Services Assn. of America (TRSA) and worked in publishing, corporate communications and public relations before launching Jenkins Integrated Marketing in 2002.
She also provides marketing services to other organizations in the industry, including the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC). Her office is based in Fairway, a suburb of Kansas City.
ARTA will celebrate its 25th anniversary during Clean ’07 in Las Vegas. It was formed in 1982 under the leadership of Nate Belkin to compete with the disposable nonwovens industry.
Its diverse membership includes suppliers, manufacturers, profit and not-for-profit laundries and allied associations working to create greater awareness, appreciation and acceptance of reusable textiles.
“It is gratifying to see how membership in the organization has continued to grow over the years and flourish,” says Belkin. “ARTA’s accomplishments have far exceeded my expectations. It is now an established association in the reusable textile industry. What is particularly heartwarming is that it is run by a volunteer board of directors whose time and energy are obviously dedicated to the association’s vision.”
Celebration activities are planned for Tuesday, June 12, during ARTA’s traditional Member Breakfast at the Las Vegas Hilton, and for Thursday, June 14, at its Clean educational seminar at the Las Vegas Convention Center. ARTA is exhibiting throughout the show at booth 830.
