ATLANTA — Private equity firm Kelly Capital sold significantly all assets of its National Linen & Uniform Service (NLUS) affiliate to Salt Lake City-based Alsco just prior to the Labor Day weekend. Terms weren't disclosed.
The deal includes branches in Florence, Ala.; Doraville, Atlanta and Savannah, Ga.; Shreveport, La.; St. Louis, Mo.; Charlotte, N.C.; Charleston and Columbia, S.C.; Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville, Tenn.; Lubbock, Texas; and Alexandria, Portsmouth and Roanoke, Va.
Additionally, Alsco purchased the business associated with NLUS service centers in Birmingham, Ala.; Little Rock, Ark.; Columbus, Ga.; Asheville and Winston-Salem, N.C.; New Orleans/Baton Rouge, La.; Greenville and Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Richmond, Va. Combined, these operations serve 16,000 customers.
"This acquisition is a significant step in meeting our objective of increasing Alsco's geographic reach in order to serve more customer locations," says Robert Steiner, who shares Alsco's chief executive officer duties with brother Kevin Steiner. "We will quickly integrate these new operations into our network of U.S. operations," adds Steve Larson, director of operations for Alsco's North American division.
