ALM’s 2016 IMPACT Educational Conference Kicks Off

New leadership elected; educational sessions begin

CHANDLER, Ariz. — The Association for Linen Management’s (ALM) 2016 IMPACT Educational Conference kicked off here Sunday at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino.

“I’m very excited and pleased at the status of the association,” says Randy Wendland, president of ALM and corporate director textile management services of ABM Healthcare Support Services in St. Clair Shores, Mich.

Wendland’s comments came during the association’s 76th annual business meeting Monday morning.

Attendees arrived Sunday, Feb. 28, to check in and enjoy a welcome reception outside in lovely 78-degree weather.

“The IMPACT conference will look at what change is coming to our industry, what change is in store for us and how we can have an ‘IMPACT,’” says ALM Executive Director Linda Fairbanks.

Business and education got started Monday morning with the annual business meeting, during which Cindy Molko, director for linen and central services at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., was elected the association’s next president. Nathan Rivers of Bay Pines (Fla.) VAMC was elected vice president.

Representatives from ALM’s various chapters also voted to adopt revised bylaws. The bylaws will take effect July 1.

A general session for all attendees titled A Conversation Among Leaders featured industry representatives and the audience discussing topics ranging from the possibility of textile mills returning to the United States to industry accreditation to help ensure clean linens.

After the general session, attendees moved on to one of many breakout sessions to be offered throughout the conference.

ALM’s IMPACT continues through tomorrow.
