Various Laundry Positions

STATE OF CALIFORNIA The California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) is conducting an online civil service exam seeking qualified candidates to work in laundry facilities within correctional facilities throughout California. Instructions on how to apply for the exam are outlined below. TESTING CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARY INFORMATION (as of 7/1/17):

Industrial Supervisor, Prison Industries (Laundry) Monthly Salary Range: $4329-$5475

Prison Industries Superintendent I (Laundry) Monthly Salary Range: $4825-$5988

Prison Industries Superintendent II (Laundry) Monthly Salary Range: $5296-$6573

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Industrial Supervisor, Prison Industries (Laundry): Two years of production experience in a laundry enterprise or trade.  (Education, such as trade school, vocational education, or major in the trade at the community college, college, or university level may be substituted for the required experience on the basis that two years of education is equal to one year of the required work experience.  Such education must include two years of course work in the specified industrial operation.)

Promotional Candidates: including employees on training-and-development assignments, who are within six months of meeting the “Minimum Qualifications” for the specified promotional class, will be admitted to the examination, but first must complete the required experience before they can be eligible for appointment. 

Prison Industries Superintendent I (Laundry): Either I: One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of an Industrial Supervisor, Prison Industries (Laundry).  Or II: Three years of production experience in a laundry enterprise or trade, at least one year of which shall have been in a supervising capacity.

Prison Industries Superintendent II (Laundry) Either I: One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of Prison Industries Superintendent I (Laundry).  Or II: Two years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of an Industrial Supervisor, Prison Industries (Laundry),  Or III:  Four years of production experience in a laundry enterprise or trade, at least two years of which shall have been in a supervising capacity.

3. Take the Self-Assessment exam

4. Print results and if successful, include a copy with your completed STD678 Standard State Application, available at www.jobs.ca.gov, when applying for vacancies

Please Note: If applying for more than one of the above exams, you must repeat the application process for each classification by logging back in with your login information.

TESTING PERIOD: This exam is offered on a continuous basis. The testing period for this exam is 12 months. Once you have taken the exam you may not retest for 12 months.
