Laundry Maintenance Technicians perform maintenance and troubleshooting duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of laundry facility’s highly automated equipment. Assumes independent responsibility for the overall preventive maintenance of assigned laundry equipment. Integrates the hospital’s mission and vision into daily tasks through dedication to customer satisfaction, quality improvement, and collaborative working relationships. Conducts scheduled inspections of laundry equipment. Checks and repairs equipment malfunctions. Makes adjustments in equipment and temperature settings as needed. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance as recommended by equipment manufacturer. Makes minor repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning units. Maintains boilers and compressors as necessary. Repairs doors, locks, tables, chairs, carts, conveyors and other equipment in the facility as the need arises. Cleans laundry equipment, area worked in, and tools when assignment is completed; returning tools to proper storage area. Maintains accurate equipment down time log. Responds immediately to all alarms; fire, equipment, boiler, and steam. Utilizes lock out-tag out policies each time. Assists in the housekeeping responsibilities of building and grounds. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
High School Education with experience in general maintenance or related course work. Knowledge of routine and emergency facility equipment maintenance requirements. Able to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics. Able to troubleshoot electrical control circuits. Knowledge in the following trades: electrical repair, HVAC repair, plumbing repair, boiler operation, and carpentry. Knowledge of chemical handling and safety precautions. Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment. Able to work cooperatively with other employees. Able to comply with the Confined Space Entry procedure as approved by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
