Responsibilities:
- The hiring, review, discipline, and discharge of all maintenance and porter personnel
- Develop and implement schedule for maintenance and porter personnel
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance program for plant equipment utilizing manual and PC tools
- Lead maintenance team in performing diagnostic troubleshooting on all plant equipment
- Monitor quality of repairs
- Interpret production reports and their use for improving operations
- Interfacing with production management and line personnel to find the most effective way to operate equipment
- Purchase spare parts
- Maintenance of spare parts inventory that will balance tying up capital with minimizing plant downtime
- Dealing with boiler chemical suppliers to ensure proper maintenance of boiler
- Identification of building and physical plant repair issues
- Maintain chemical delivery system for washroom
- Certify that all technicians are trained in and follow all required Environmental Health and Safety Procedures
- Control of energy cost through effective monitoring of machine performance and operating schedules
- Maintain technical publication library (equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Degree in engineering or trade licenses and certificates or
- 5 to 10 years of experience in a maintenance supervisory role
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents
- Ability to use basic hand tools properly
- Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, including electrical wiring, electronic components, pneumatic systems, steam systems, water systems, hydraulics, and building maintenance
- Ability to design and maintain work schedule
- Ability to work cross functionally with other departments
- Interest in constantly improving operation by researching new techniques and methods
- Ability to deal with vendors and purchase parts in an effective manner, including pricing and delivery methods
- Ability to be a coach and mentor to maintenance team
- Ability to obtain necessary and proper licenses to operate plant legally (boiler license, etc.)
- Ability to prioritize daily work assignments
- Ability to understand production principles and processes
